Why isnt my mic working?

I bought this mic from a friend, and it was brand new, and I also bought an amp(Fast Track Amp) so i connected my amp to my computer and installed and its working good, because I connected my speakers to it and i can hear my music from the computer, but the mic is just not working, i tried changing settings around, and it wont work.. i know the mic workds because i tested it atmy friends house.. anyone know a way? if you wanna see the amp i bought here it is.. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7372354&type=product&id=1122654018433 PLEASE IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW ALLOT ABOUT THIS, IM ON YAHOO MESSANGER.. eminaymuzik01
