What is an affordable gaming desktop?

What is a good gaming desktop that is both affordable and compatible with the call of duty series?

  What matters for gaming is the graphics card. Now about that, all recent good graphics cards will run Call of Duty 4 and 5 at its highest settings. There are two brands GeForce and Radeon. While the HD 4670 offers good cheap performance. The HD 4830 is great lower mid-range, the HD 4850 is a good mid-range and is in a lot of near $1000 gaming PC's. And the HD 4870 is just out of your price range in seen in a lot of $1000-1200 gaming PC's. For Geforce the 9600 GT is a good starting point. The 9800 GT is great lower mid-range The 9800 GTX is seen in alot of mid-range near $1000 gaming PC's and is just slightly slower than the HD 4850. While the GTX 260 is just out of your price range in seen in a lot of $1000-1200 gaming PC's. Or a Core 2 Quad @ 2.3 to 2.5 GHz. Core 2 Duo is generally better right now for gaming but in the future the Core 2 Quad will be better.
