What are the specs for your PC?

What specs do I need for my new desktop pc?

  • I know a lot about actually using computers but not so much about the specs needed to create a good one haha. Looking to buy a desktop pc for reasonable gaming use (mainly 3d mmorpgs such as world of warcraft and other games like the sims) though im not really bothered about using the highest graphics settings, normal web browsing and general use. If anyone could tell me what my new pc would need to have? I have a pretty low budget so I cant afford to be splashing out on the most expensive things, just the minimum settings for what I want to do. If any one could help that'd be great

    Well, for those purposes an entry level gaming computer should be adequate. I would spend maybe $650 on it (500 Euro) at the minimum. Give or take $50. EDIT: Oh sorry, I was assuming you were willing to build it yourself. If you're uncomfortable with the idea, then I'm pretty sure there are "custom" prebuilt configurators around the internet. I've heard of some UK ones, but I can't tell you the specific names. You'll have to ask fellow Y!A members from the UK. Avoid Alienware, their sh*t is grossly overpriced. Note that building it yourself will save you about $200-300 (~200 Euro).

WoW and sims are not hard to run at all, If you want to play some epic games like bf3 mw3 skyrim, You should get Alienware X51, Last time I checke don ebay it was 995 euro, Pretty expensive but WAY worth it if you ask me, However if your sure its only sims and WoW, You dont even really need a desktop PC, A Toshiba C660D (One I have) can run WoW at maximum at about 25-30 FPS, Keep in mind thats MAX, It can run MW3 on MAX at 15 And normal at 35, And Sims 3 on max at about 40 fps, FPS is frames per second, The higher the better, If your gonna play bf3 on c660d it wont even turn on and skyrim is 15fps on lowest, So if only wow and sims c660d laptop is a good choice.

You didnt specify an exact Budget ? For under £400 you can get: AMD Phenom X4 960T (atm amazon is £110) £30-£50 Motherboard (ebay 'AMD AM3 Motherboard) 8Gb DDR3 1333mhz RAM (£30 ish) Radeon HD 4870 512mb (£40 ish) Case and PSU (look around the £30 mark - budget range) 500Gb 7200rpm HDD (they tend to go for around £40 ish) Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit (if 32bit - only use 4GB RAM) (£50, if you look in the right places) DVD Writer (£15-£20) the above is not far away from my build (which is still ongoing) and I'm sure that I'll be able to playa fair few games.... Monitors are your next expensive which could be £80 +
