How do you do a screen dump?

How do I get past the screen "Beginning dump of physical memory"?

  • This screen begins with "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." Towards the bottom it says "*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0x9F832351, 0x00000000, 0x9F832351, 0x00000000)". My friend looked at it and told me I had a bad hard drive. So I put a new one in but it's still going back to that screen. Does anyone know what those codes mean or what I am supposed to do?

  • Answer:

This is called the blue screen of death. Bard hard drive is not likely. Bad software is likely. What programs did your recently install or update. Think about that long and hard because that is probably the cause. Here is what you can do. 1. Turn computer completely off 2. Hit Power button and start Tapping F8 Key Repeatedly until Windows Advanced Options Appears 3. With your arrow keys select safe mode and press enter 4. On choose your operating system press enter 5. Log in with your normal user name 6. Click start 7. Click Programs 8. Click Accessories 9. Click System Tools 10. Click System Restore 11. Restore my computer to an earlier time 12. Pick a date before the blue screens appeared 13. Remember problem will probably return when you reinstall that software or update it again. A computer tech can look at the memory dump to determine the cause of the blue screen error./

Sorry, but this sounds like a corrupt boot sector.

It could be because of a defected cpu or ram.

You probably have a bad driver somewhere. These occur frequently with camera drivers, but can be caused by anything driver related. Are you doing a complete reinstallation of windows? I don't know what is on your PC, but that is the best fix. Make sure you set the jumper on the HD to master.

Press F8 when the computer is starting up and see if it will give you boot options. If it does select "Command Prompt". Then type in the following chkdsk /F This usually does a good job of fixing bootup errors from a bluescreen.
