Is Netflix good to use on the PC?

How do I connect speakers to a media center PC?

  • I am building a media PC to replace my cable TV ( need to save some money). Once done, I will have an LCD TV, the PC connected to internet with a netflix subscription, and I will just use a wireless keyboard and mouse for now to control everything. What i can figure out is the audio side. Do I still use my receiver and just connect the PC to it with HDMI? Or do I need a sound card and PC speakers? Obviously I would prefer to use my current home theater speakers. All answers and/or links to reference sites are appreciated. If someone knows a site with detailed charts and stuff of connecting everything, that would be great. Peace.

  • Answer:

Smart move on cutting the cord. Cable TV is way too expensive. Here's how I have my current setup: http://sites.google.com/site/nomoretvbill/ I have a PC connected to my TV via HDMI. I have a digital audio connector running from my TV to my stereo receiver. So, the PC streams content over the network and sends it to the TV. Then, the TV sends it to the receiver with a digital audio (optical) cable. One advantage of doing it this way is that I can turn the stereo receiver on and off. If I turn it off the sounds still comes from the TV (from the HDMI cable). But, if I turn the stereo receiver on I can send the TV output to my surround sound system.
