What is the easiest way to play any sound file?

Hi, I have just started downloading avi files. However, only the sound will play. Help!?

  • I just downloaded my first avi file. It was a video file, took five hours from Ares appeared fine but when I play it back I only get sound and no visual. Any tips/ideas? Faulty file? Am I doing something wrong? I am clueless PC wise by the way!

    panic ye not download http://k-litecodecpack.com this as the codecs you need for audio and video it also installs "media player classic home cinema" you can watch them on to save the "film" you can burn it as a data file onto a cd (1 film) or a dvd (up to 6 films) you can then delete from PC ~you just put the cd/dvd in drive to watch them again on PC you can find a good cd/dvd burner at http://freeasyburner.com (free) if you want to watch them on your tv through a dvd player you have to convert the films first (you need the codec pack for this) you can get a free converter from http://koyotesoft.com hope this helps

Download VLC media player. It has all the codecs already. It will play your avi.

it's probably the codecs download and install "K-Lite Full Codec Pack" and select 'loadsa stuff' in the drop down box on install.

Need codec klite codec will work fine.Try updating you grafics driver if this doesn't work(go to manufacturers website and download the newest for your model)

I think you dont have the "Codecs" installed on your computer for windows media player. Download and install the codecs here. www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pac… If it still doesnt work after this the file has a problem.

it is definitely the codec.usually the vista version of media cannot play old avi files or if played only sound.try to play it using other OS, or download another movie player

You may miss the video code, go and google search for K-lite code, download and install it, your problem will be solved. Or you may convert your video to wmv video for a try, I know windows media player play wmv video well.
