How do you make a password in an Applescript?

Does Windows ever MAKE you change your desktop password?

  • Here's the story... tried to log into our desktop computer. Husband is in class right now. He changed the password?! WTF. So I texted him, he texted back the password and said to chill, Windows MADE him change it, but he sent me the wrong password. I texted back, and he said to be patient and he'll call me when he gets out of class. First of all, since when does Windows MAKE you change your desktop password. I know I need to chill, but that sounds like a lie from the get-go. It seems to me like he is hiding something and I can't stand that!

  • Answer:

In a word, Yes. Having said that, it is an administrator's option. However it is the preferred way to secure your system. Mine is set to change every 90 days

You can set Windows to require a password change at a certain interval (every 30 days, 60 days, etc.), but by default, no, Windows won't ask you to change it. This shows you how to set up a password policy on Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-password-policy-settings If you're concerned that he's hiding something, have him log in while you're there, then let you use the computer. If he asks you to go away while he "figures out what happened," that's not a good sign. Hope that helps.

Well, you can configure Windows to require password changes after a certain period of time, but this isn't a default configuration choice.

Don't ask if Windows will make you do so (it won't). Ask why he didn't give you the latest password. That should mean something.

Windows doesn't MAKE you change anything unless it's set to do something. Sounds like you need a talk with hubby!
