Computer screen went fuzzy and is blinking?

My Computer Went To Screen Saver... And Monitor Just Turned Off?

What happen was i was watching a video on youtube... then... the monitor went to black screen it looked like... what happens usually when ive been off for 10mins and its screen saver... Then i pressed the down arrow key on my keyboard LIKE I ALWAYS do... to bring up the screen... nothing happens... its still black... the monitor power light went to orange... but it usually happens during my screen saver... Then i checked my mouse... and it had no light under neath it... But my tower was still running i could see the light... the light then like i heard like a (stop power sound) and the light on my tower started to blink? Then i pressed the on button on my tower... and i hear the computer running again... but the screen says "out of range" then i pressed the on button again... and the screen came back shutting down my computer Now i pressed it and everything is working back... WHAT JUST HAPPENED

This behavior can occur if the signal from the video adapter exceeds the scan range of the monitor. The video adapter setting for updating the screen (the refresh rate) is incompatible with the monitor. Check your refresh rate under display properties.
