Why does my computer sometimes blackout?

If there was a blackout...would my computer work?

    Your laptop will continue to run on batteries but depending on how you hook up to the internet, you may not have internet service. *for example: I'm using a home network running through a wireless router...but the router requires electricity to operate....hence, power go off, no router, no internet (unless I can find a hotspot)

Not if it's a desktop, unless you have a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). If it's a laptop with a battery, then it'll keep working. I'm sure you know that batteries store charge.

Computer require power from an outlet to operate. Or a battery. Generally desktops don't have batteries, so not if it's a desktop. Power outages can damage desktops by corrupting hard drive data, and voltage spikes (like when the power comes back on suddenly after a black-out) can also damage a computer. If it's a laptop that has a battery with charge, then yes, it will work, as long as the battery lasts anyway. Some power cables come with a UPS, or uninterruptable power supply feature, in which during the event of a blackout some power can be supplied to the computer for a few minutes, allowing you to shut it down properly.

Your mac laptop will go to battery power just unplug the power cord and leave it unplug until the power come back on, surges in the line when the power comes back on , also unplug your pc unless you are using a power surge outlet.
