Help with loud buzz sound when playing PC games?

  • I recently installed the Razer Barracuda AC-1 and am using the HP-1 surround sound headphones. Every once in awhile, when playing a game, there will be pops and cracks, sometimes a very loud buzz. I believe I've completely removed all my previous soundcard drivers and software (using Driver Cleaner Pro) and tried both versions of Razer drivers. It could be a set-up issue as I have little (or no) experience with surround sound. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Sounds to me like the connection to your sound card is not very secure. I would try to insure that the headphone and speaker jack is securely into its connector, and if if you are using the add on connector/dongle, make sure it is secure on the back of the sound card. Also make sure the sound card is secure in its slot. It could be a short in the sound card hardware if both the speaker and headphone exibit the same problem. You don't mention if it happens in ALL games or not. Could be a software conflict with certain games if it only happesn with one or two. Otherwise, I'd think you got yourself a short or loose connection.

Personally it sounds like you have damaged your headphones / speakers with loud music / audio. Damaged speakers etc will "Pop" as sound travels and vibrates the damaged plates. The Surround Sounds set up regardless should have no effect on the sounds - however your sound card may not support 5.1 effectively.

I agree with the first dude. Try using a different set of headphones and see if the problem goes away. If it does, throw away your old ones. If not, check sound card. Replace it. That should solve the issue. If you still have problems, come back with more info plz!
