How can I monitor another computer on my home network?

How do I know if I can upgrade my graphics card in my desktop?

  • Hey all with black friday coming up I was thinking of ordering a better graphics card I run a Nvidia 315 512mb right now. I want to stick with Nvidia (I hear they are better then ATI at gaming). But I dont know if I can even upgrade my computer (not to hardware savvy) Here are my specs. Thanks More details about my computer Component Details Subscore Base score Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 Processor 7.3 4.1 Determined by lowest subscore Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB 7.5 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 315 4.1 Gaming graphics 3319 MB Total available graphics memory 5.7 Primary hard disk 431GB Free (913GB Total) 5.9 Windows 7 Home Premium System --------------------------------------… Manufacturer Gateway Model DX4320 Total amount of system memory 6.00 GB RAM System type 64-bit operating system Number of processor cores 4 Storage --------------------------------------… Total size of hard disk(s) 913 GB Disk partition (C:) 431 GB Free (913 GB Total) Media drive (D:) CD/DVD Media drive (L:) CD/DVD Graphics --------------------------------------… Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce 315 Total available graphics memory 3319 MB Dedicated graphics memory 512 MB Dedicated system memory 0 MB Shared system memory 2807 MB Display adapter driver version 8.17.11.9745 Primary monitor resolution 1600x900 DirectX version DirectX 10 Network --------------------------------------… Network Adapter Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Network Adapter Belkin USB Wireless Adaptor Network Adapter Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter So basically can this computer be upgraded and does anyone have any recommendations for a good gaming graphics card (that I wont have to sell a kidney to afford under 200ish with blackfriday prices).

Hi, Yes you can upgrade, but I am almost certain you will need to buy a new power supply before you can upgrade your video card. For a good video card in the range $150, you will need at least a 450 Watt Power Supply. So check inside of your pc and see how much wattage your power supply is. When you have a 450Watt or more power supply, than I recommend you on buying the Nvida GTX 560 PCI-Express Video Card. Its a really good card, you will love. A LOT faster than the 315 you currently have. Here is a link of the GTX560 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127592

he he another one going with the crowd "I hear they are better then ATI at gaming" i also have heard that cutting your fingers is good for your health so i should find a knife right ? nvidia 560ti is 13 thousand INR 6870 is 10 thousand INR add 2 or 3 more you'll have a 800 watt psu but its wayy much faster that 560ti hardware wise only thing is that it doesn't support sli or physx which many games use with partnership of nvidia so it slower than 560ti in only some games which are totally designed after nvidia but do as you wish i am no one to stop you pay a little more for 560ti or get cheaper 6870 the choice is yours I was starting to hate nvidia when i had 7100 for 3 yrs i am surprised you still prefer nvidia even though you have a crappy card by Nvidia

you need a PCIe x16 slot for it your power supply WATTS determines what can be fitted. read the specification below but now you can see it may be fitted with different sized supply you must confirm which one you have. if its only 300 watts then the card you have already may be as high as you can go if its a 500 watts then the 5000 series cards are possible the spec shows which cards that gateway offer. you dont need to stick to that list, it just gives you an extremely handy clue as to what can be fitted when a 500 watt supply is present
