Why do post and packaging cost so much?

How do I figure out the postage cost for sending my iMac desktop computer?

http://sg.royalmail.com/portal/rm/PriceFinder?catId=23500532 this is a postal calculator for the royal mail online. jus put in the weight etc and check which way you wish to send it i.e. next day guaranteed, rocorded etc. A laptop might be too big but plenty of courier services also have online calculators for postage so just check them out. :)

Package it, weigh it and then go to www.usps.com to calculate postage. If you want to do ups the price will vary based on zip codes.
