Are A+ and Network+ certifications enough to start a computer repair business?

Answer:
Not just certifications are important make sure you have the knowledge and EXPERIENCE of fixing computers. People like you who have no experience and get a piece of paper think they are boss at fixing computers and decide to open a shitty pc repair shop...

Fola is right...to some extent...your not a brain surgeon so "certification" isn't necessary...however if you work for some one else it wold be very much better to have it on your resume! Having worked on computers in the "electro mechanical" days.. by the time the A+ certification came into being I was already teaching it at the request of the major communications company I worked for! I also worked on equipment that hit the "commercial" market 5-7 later! So for yourself no its not really necessary but it would be a great idea your employees have at least some certification! At least YOU will know they have some sort of formal training in the field. Now all they need is experience. You cant get that till you actually WORK in the field. Like the other guy said they HAVE to have 5+ years of experience...This is not Europe and there are no.."guilds" that allow you to work as an "apprentice" to get that experience...you just get a job..if they will higher you...and work your way up...show your ability..at least in this country, there are SOME company's that are willing to take a "newbie" and train them!

If anyone wants to be a Best Buy Geek Squad "technician" all you need to do is say computer without stuttering and you are hired. Being able to read a prepared script is handy too. Your certifications are good for real repair shops.

I'm running a computer repair business fro 3 years now and just a week ago I got A+ certified. For your own business you don't need any certificate you need experience,if you're about to work for somebody else the least you must have is the A+ and I recommend the Cisco CCNA.
To start repairing computers, yes. To start and run a computer business, no. Owning and operating your own business requires skills and knowledge no computer certification can teach.
