What do I need for a digital tv tuner for the computer?

How can i check and see if my computer has a tv tuner card?if not where can i buy one? or what kind did i need

  • i have found some websites where you can watch live tv on your computer. of course u have to have a tv tuner card. so i am wondering how do i check on my computer to see if i have one. i went to hp website to get help there but no luck. thanks

    (1) Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click Hardware tab, click Device Manager. Scan down the list of devices and look for anything that has TV or Tuner in it. If yes, then you have one. (2)Look at the back of your computer, where all the cables plug in. A TV tuner card will have an antenna connector on the back of it. It looks like a round threaded cylinder, with white plastic in the center of the cylinder, with a small hole in the center of the plastic.

sadly, you probably don't have one, they're usually optional. do you have windows xp media center edition. if you do, you might have the card.

Go to the control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Device Manager. When you double click and open Device Manager, it will show you a list - chk to see if it contains a TV Tuner entry.

yes you can but you don;t need any web site, you just need the tv turner card, check on de back os the computer if you have a plug same as the tv, where you connect the antena, if you dont have it go to any computer store and buyit.

see inside your system cabinet and see if there's a t.v tuner card, and if thats a bit confusing , see at the back of your cpu box and see if you can find a tv cable connector , if it ain't there you dont have one, other options to watch tv on your computer, get a broadband connection a real fast one ( go to sites that offer free boradcast of tv signals over internet) enjoy!

Most of the computers do not have a TV tuner card(unless you have upgraded it and add one in). Take a look the back of the computer to see if it has a TV Connector like the cable connector on the wall. If you see it(you don't have a TV turner card if you don't see it), turn your computer, click "start" - "control panel" - "system" -"Harware" - "device manager" to make sure there is a TV turner device in there. If you have both, you can see live TV on your computer. Just connect a TV cable from wall to the back of the computer, looking for the software to operate the TV turner card and run it, you should see a small window open and see TV. If you don't have a TV card, just go to bestbuy or local computer store to buy one(ATI makes good one) and have a friend put in for you, it's very easy.

if you have to ask then you prolly don't have a tuner card. I'd sugges t you get a digital tuner card, if you get digital tv in your area. check out hauppauge.com for different types if cards
