What's better, a PC or MAC?

Whats does the mac do better than pc, what does PC do better than Mac?

  • I know alot of it really depends on the hardware onboard the machine, so my thought process has always been that dollar for dollar you can get more performance out of a PC than a Mac. I only experience crashes when software is more advanced than my computer hardware and it is a rarity for my computer to crash for any other reason. So i was wanting to know what is so great about macs? I know what I like about PC's, familiarity with the system, upgradeable, more reasonable price. My main uses for my system now-a-days greatly consist of video editing, and then here and there documents, photos storage. I used to do alot of gaming, but since the rise of Online Console Gaming, I have dwindled my pc gaming down to an occasional Civilization game. My main reason for researching this is because my wifes 6 month old Sager Notebook is failing. It has Vista, which I hate, and now the battery wont charge, we have a replacement we got yesterday, and it charged once and wont recharge. My desktop computer running on XP that I am using now is from 2006 and will need to be replaced this year. I researched dollar for dollar last night a $2k Mac with a Dell with the same equipment, the Dell came out about $400 cheaper.

  • Answer:

The Mac does absolutely NOTHING better than a PC. The PC does EVERYTHING a Mac can do and more and is no where near as expensive. As for media and the arts, PCs surpassed macs in graphics design 15 years ago. Keep in mind, there is no where near as much software available for a mac.

My girlfriend has a Mac, and I have a PC. PC's are in opinion more user friendly. PC's allow you to do modifications to the system which Mac's do not allow. If you delete a progrom or file on a PC you can go and retrieve, however on a Mac you cannot. So if your looking for a computer, your best bet is stick with a PC, because when you deal with a Mac your looking at things that you can't do with PC's. No upgrading, the tech support is rediculous and the repairs are ungawdfully costly.

Honestly, a PC has more control over the computer, and it has more functions, but many of them are harder to use, because many people don't have the required knowledge to do certain things. Though on a Mac, it is more user friendly, but they can (sometimes) break and/or crash easier, and they don't have as many functions as a PC. So overall, it is determined by YOUR official standing on how knowledgeable you are about computer-related things.

with mac, lets be upfront youre paying for the name. but it will do video editing decently, along with music editing. however being that it is still a secondary brand with less users than PC youll have a harder time finding programs for it, in terms of brand new games, some codecs for video watching and online gaming aswell. for PC, yes its main issue is crashing and losing everything, but the only thing that truly gets rid of all of your data is a hardware failure. and both systems are susceptible to it. and you might want to look at multiple companies for the equiv system. HP, Sony, Toshiba, and IBM are also viable pc manufacturer/distributors that offer prices that vary for different equipment. The main difference between the two systems is how they handle Arrays. an array of numbers is a line of numbers a certain length long. mac does have a different processor only difference it has a special means of dealing with arrays of numbers. it does it more smoothly, with that said both systems are capable of doing the work and doing it well. it all resolves down to what you are comfortable with. if you like pc stick with it, if you want to try a mac go for it. ive used both and have had catastrophic failures on both, the support on both types are out there if you are a do it yourselfer or a person with a 4 year warranty. so pcs are cheaper and windows 7 is alot better than vista ... macs offer thourough testing before release which gets rid of simple bugs, but they have their name to go with so its typically expensive to get one. gl with your choice

i guess with macs you get a better looking system, longer battery life, and some other neat things like the big trackpad and lit keyboard, magsafe etc.. also OSX is a little bit more user friendly and not many viruses are written for it .. and for video editing i heard final cut was pretty good .. with a non-mac youll get better specs and itll be cheaper.. except maybe you wont get those other neat things and the battery life may not be as good but thats about it.. also what the hell is a sager? get a laptop from a reliable brand like asus: http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/17/laptop-reliability-survey-asus-and-toshiba-win-hp-fails/

macs are MUCH better. and they are so worth it. they have photobooth garage band and alot more. they are much more virus proof but the only con is that they cost a fortune. it depends what your using them for though if your going into college there great and they last a LONG time. i love my mac so much! ITS SO WORTH IT.

mac is awesome if you do any type of media editing (photoshop, music making, video editing) and with a pc you can play video games. 'nuff said, mang.

I have a Mac and it works so well, I'm not an expert but I know that Macs have better firewall and they have cool features. I've bought 3 PCs and they had really weak firewall. I would rather spend 400$ more then to spend 500$ to repair it when it gets a virus.

PC is better for overall use. Mac is better for design, photography and music ect. (PLZ give me 10 points)
