How to record sound in buffer using ALSA?

I have a intel 915GV motherboard and i can´t record any sound using microphone . Can anyone help me ?

I tested my microphone on another computer and it has no problem . Someone told me that this problem was common for all intel 915GV motherboard users . PLEASE HELP ME ?

Do the simple things first. check the connections and drivers, are the jumpers on the MB in the right place and does your microphone work. Its normally the simple things that go wrong.

does 915gv have a sound card included in it? if it does, then you just need to install a driver. it doesn't, then you need a sound card (plus driver).

It could be a software problem. Check the audio settings in Windows (accessible from the control panel) and make sure the sound recording device is your preferred sound device (I assume it's your motherboard's integrated sound).
