How do I download chat box? want to chat on-line,cant because do not have chat box. PLEASE HELP!!! thanks?

I tried to go into the chat rooms but the chat box is not installed into my computer. I have a Windows WP. help would me appriciated. Online tells me to download from Java apps, but I cant figure it out when I get to it. It gives me different options, but I dont know whitch one to go into. I tried all of them but dont know what the chat box is called.

Pull up your yahoo messenger box.At the top you will see a row with a telephone and cell phone and two^^ Click on the ^^.An icon will appear that says chat.Click on that and you will pull up all yahoo rooms.Pick your room.That should work.If you don't have yahoo messenger you will have to download that first.
