How do i get welcome screen back on my computer?

How do I get my computer screen to look like it did when I got it back from the repairperson???I'm new at this

  • I am new at using the computer. Someone left an old one w/ me, he had trouble w/it, left town, skipped out...etc. I have no book or any instructions. I took it to be repaired. It worked great. I guess I messed it up? Tried to SCAN-DISK--C DRIVE said it tried 10 times, windows, or another program had been writing to this drive. Can I get it to do right?

  • Answer:

right click ur screen, then click properties. then click desktop. u will have all ur background options there, if the one u want is not on that list, click browse and look for the picture file where u think u have saved, and then just click ok and ur desktop background has changed.

The scandisk problem most likely is that you need to close all programs and turn off your screen saver first, and then leave it to run. I think you are talking about the screen resolution in your main question, that can be changed by right clicking in an open area of your desktop and going to properties. Then go to the settings tab.

Sounds like Win98 and maybe your screen resolutions are messed up? For Scandisk to run all apps need to be closed, no screensaver on and you may need to even stop virus protection. You can do it from the command line as well but you probably shouldn't be doing that. If the monitor looks all grainy then the monitor is not setup right. Right click on the desktop and click properties. From there you can set your screen saver, resolutions, color, etc. Pick something like 800x600 and 32bit color, if you cannot select those then your monitor/adapter are not being seen by Windows correctly and your probably going to need more help.

RightClick Mousebutton, Click on "Properties". That should have everything you need depending on what kind of operating system you have i.e. windows 98, windows xp etc.
