Try the SIMPLE fix first RIGHT click an area of the blank desktop, select ARANGE ICON BY, then make sure "SHOW DESKTOP ICONS" is ticked.

Restart your computer. You probably deleted an exec file through task manager thats what happens to me when i make my computer run faster

What windows operating system are you using? If desktop icons are gone: In windows XP right click the desktop and click on "Arrange Icons By" then click "Show Desktop Icons." In Windows Vista right click the desktop then click "Views" then click "Show Desktop Icons." If startup bar (taskbar) is gone: Press your windows key on your keyboard and right click "Start," click "Properties" after that click the "Taskbar"tab then uncheck mark the box "Auto-hide the taskbar." Make sure you click the "Apply" button.

sounds like your explorer.exe stopped running ...press your power button in on your computer and hold it for about 5-10 seconds and it will turn off your computer..just turn it back on and it sould work again.

I had this problem before and all I did was hit the start button on the keyboard as known as windows flag button if that doesn't work then hold your power button on your pc consle for 5 seconds then it will turn off and turn it on again and it should work prfectly and this is related to an .exe file and if everything else does not work open up the task manager by holding down Ctrl+Alt+Delete on your keyboard and when the task manager loads go to the file menu and slect new task and in the box type in explorer.exe and hit enter on your keyboard or press ok and wait for your desktop to load up and it should be fine now. If not try again. To stop this hapening in the future click "Start," click "Properties" after that click the "Taskbar"tab then untick the box "Auto-hide the taskbar if it is ticked and now press aply then press ok. There is a easier way to do it but it might not work but here's how it goes: right click on an empty area on the desktop and select arange icons by then make sure show desktop icons is ticked.

First, restart your computer like everyone else has suggested. Should that not work, and it doesn't always work, try pulling up your task manager (ctrl+alt+delete). From there, go to file, select new task, and in the box that comes up type explorer.exe. That should fix it. If that doesn't work, then you have a whole different set of problems.
