How can I reformat my custom built computer? I have the XP OS disc but I can't boot from it.?

It gets to a black screen with white text that says its checking my system hardware or something but then it just restarts and tries it over and over again. How else can I reformat it? I don't care about whats on my C: drive; it's already got viruses. Thanks for the help :D

Change the boot sequence to read the DVD CD drive first then start your machine. The OS disc is a boot-able one and will load the start up files for the install. If you have a floppy drive then you can also use that with a start up disc (floppy to reformat the C drive and also run SANDISK etc

When does it restart? If it restarts when Windows xp installer has finished copied files over onto your hard drive then you'll just have to boot from your hard drive when your computer restarts in order to continue with the installation. You can change your boot sequency from the BIOS settings menu, which can be accessed by pressing a certain key when your BIOS' manufacture's logo comes up (that key depends on the make of your BIOS: F2 for American Megatrends, etc.).
