Mouse pad not working on ubuntu netbook?

Someone plz help i recently downloaded the new updates for ubuntu linux laptop and since then the mouse doesent move. I have to use shortkeys to get around but theres only so many i know. The update manager still comes up all the time saying partial upgrade so im not sure whats wrong?
