Why won't my speaker work?

Why is my Left speaker doesn't work? Right speaker does work?

• I have this PC since June 2004. The sound worked fine until around 2005 I accidentally uninstalled the sound driver (SoundMAX). Since I lost my Driver's CD, I install the AC'97 driver that windows automatically detects. But with that driver, I have to plug in the speaker in the Blue jack. But not the Green jack. And mic does not work with that driver. Now, I found the driver on the internet. It says I have to plug the speaker in the Blue Jack. If I plug there, the left speaker won't work. I tried to move the balance slider, I got nothing. If I slide it to left, the right speaker's volume decrease. Same when I slide it into the right. Vice Versa How can I fix this? Mic works with this driver but my speaker doesn't..T_T If it's the soundcard, then how do I repair it by myself? If there's no way to repair it, Is there any cheap soundcard (Below 20$) that compatible with my MotherBoard? (P4P800SE)

  Try plugging in the speakers with an iPod or something.. see if BOTH of them work fine there.. If they do then the problem is with the computer, not the speakers. If you can, then start your comp with a Linux Live CD.. if the sound plays fine, then its a Driver issue & not an H/W issue.. Get better drivers.. Do this.. if it is the drivers indeed, then use belarc advisor to see what the brand & model no# of the soundcard is..maybe you'll get lucky..
