How to reduce memory usage on your PC?

I have a widget on my PC that states I have 80% memory usage. How can I lower that number. (help) Windows Vista...
Answer:

The usual stuff, check your startup programs and disable those that you don't need running at all times. Also RAM is dirt cheap these days, so you could add some more RAM as wel.

WINDOWS VISTA! That is part of the problem. Other than that open Task Manager, go to processes and search them all online. If one is not needed, try to delete it.
