Can I turn a horizontal PC vertically?

How can I boost the power input of my PC since my new video card isn't letting my PC turn on?

  • I bought a new PCI video card for my computer. I actually have an ATI Radeon of 64MB and it ok. I upgraded it to an EVGA Nvidia e-GeForce 6200 of 256 MB....when I put in this new Nvidia one, after I try to start the PC normally, it wont even turn on. I switched this new on for the oldy and the computer stars normally...any ideas/help of anyone that had this same problem? Ive tried going in the BIOS and seek any PCI option to boost power or any other video option but it seems there's nothing in it......the power thingies of my computer says it has a maximum power intake of 250 watts..the the new card says it works with a 250 watts power supply unit..or higher... I would appreciate any help..thanks.

    If you have a lot of devices connected to your computer, I would say that your current power supply is too weak. You might want to upgrade to a 350 or 400 watts power supply, depending on the amount of devices you are currently using and might be using with the same setup later on. 250 watts really is low even if the video card says it works with that. Consider the power the computer needs for powering your CPU, hard drives, DVD/CD drives, coolers, PCI cards, USB devices, etc. on top of that.

Maybe time to upgrade your power supply, although it says it will work with a 250, that is the minimum. A 300 or better will probably fix the problem.

I would buy a new power supply, If it is a Dell you may have some problems, Dell has used proprietary parts.

I tried upgrading a video card once and had a problem similar, but it turned out my problem was that I went from a PCI card to an AGP card and didn't switch that setting in BIos. Will your computer boot to bios with the new card in? If so you might want to check that.
