Is there a cable to hook my computer into my TV?

Is there any cable or chord that will let me hook my computer directly to my tv.?

  • I am trying to hook my computer to my t.v. so it will act as a large monitor is there any cable or anything like that, that will allow me to do that.

  • Answer:

Yes you can but no cord of any kind will help us unless you have a video card hooked to your computer that lets hook your computer to your TV. If the video is built into your computers motherboard then you will not be able to do this till you buy a video card that will let you make this connection. Edit update: Let me stress like others have said not all TV's will work with these other type of connections. However, if you have the type of video card in your computer I was telling you about then any TV will work. Edit update: Most of the newest video cards today will let you make this connection. However, ATI video cards are famous for their great TV rendering. Go to any computer software/hardware store and tell the computer dudes in there what you are looking for and they will point you in the right direction. I know for a fact our local Staples has such a card at our store here in town right now.

If you have VGA or HDMI on your computer and you have either of those on your TV its very easy. If not you'll have to use S-Video and that blows very hard. What kind of TV do you have?

depends on the type of tv you have, if you have a PC input slot on the back of your tv you'll just need a PC video cable(pc to moniter cable-almost standard) if not you'll have to use a s video cable, and that will only work if your PC's video card supports it

HDMI is the best, but your TV has to be capable of doing this, not all of them are.

Shellback is pretty much correct BUT you may have to alter (down) the resolution output from your graphics card 'cos TVs usually do not have as high resolution as comp monitors. You may also have to run a separate line for audio.
