Why does iPod take a long time to backup?

How much time should it take to fill up a 1GB iPod Shuffle, using usb 2.0?

  • After fiddling about with my computer, I found that what I previously thought was usb 1.1, was usb 2.0 but without the drivers. Now I've installed the drivers, I want to check whether I'm getting the faster speed. What length of time should I be able to transfer 1GB of music to my iPod Shuffle?

  • Answer:

USB 1.1 used to do 12 MB per second USB 2.0 can do up to 480 MB/s unfortunately, the ipod shuffle can only write data at a rate of 2MB/s. newer gen might be able to go to 3MB/s but thats it. therefore, 1000/3 =333 seconds to transfer 1 GB no matter how fast your USB, your ipod can only store the received information at 2 or 3 Mb per second. so it will take you around the same time.

Sir you speak in tongues! have you been at that south American gin again? In answer to your question though I suggest you go on the Interwebotron and get some information from the Robot-otrons that run it. Tip top.
