My computer drive wont detect my cd's in it. No matter what cd i put in there, it still says no cd in drive.

Are you able to run your Windows XP installation CD when you boot your computer? If you can't do this, you probably need to enable your CD drive from your BIOS. (See your motherboard manual for more information) If you can, is it possible to detect a CD within Windows XP Safe Mode? If so, it's probably a driver problem. (Uninstall your CD/DVD Driver)

try cleaning you laser lens , get a commercial product at Best Buy or Wal-Mart. works every time.

If it just stopped working the drive may have gone bad. This happened to several Dell's at work. Try checking your settings as posted above also.

Did the CD drive come with an installation disc, if so run it over again.
