How do u get to all the folders on a hard drive?

How do I get back the folders on my external hard drive?

  • A few weeks ago after some files had been added to my external hard drive I noticed that none of the folders were showing up on the hard drive on computers anymore but when I put it into the USB slot for my TV I am able to see all the folders and still watch videos and such. The files are still there and the space is still being taken up by all the folders but I can't access the folders from any computer and I was wondering if there is any way to get them back. Thanks.

    I have a feeling that your computer is infected by a worm which hides your files and folders from the OS'es view. TV's use a different OS so it is not affected. Scan your computer with this: http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/utility That's just a scanner and cleaner. It's not the actual antivirus program. If you need an antivirus program, either you get a subscription from Kaspersky or just use a free product like Avast or Avira.

That's really odd. Perhaps the folders have been hidden? Try this: 1. Open My Computer 2. Tools -> Folder Options 3. View 4. Check the box that says "Show Hidden Files and Folders" or something to that end. It's also possible that the drivers are corrupt for your external. For that: 1. Go to Device Manager with the external plugged in 2. Under Disk Drives find your external. 3. Right click, Uninstall. 4. Then eject your external and plug it back in.

I think your pc have viruses. I'm going to teach you how to access your folder again, but Im not that good in english, so please bear with me.. 1.) open your external drive 2.) on your file explorer's address bar (upper part, the one where you can see "my documents") type the folder name after the drive letter(ex. E:/*folder name* 3.) you can already see your files
