hi mate good question... this is a common issue that occurs when reinstalling windows... and its not until you have completed the installation that you realise "ahh" what about the l.a.n (ethernet) drivers.... .... however since this is the main portal for connecting to the internet it leaves you with a bit of a problem...... however you obviously have alternate methods of going online... so you need to first discover what motherboard you have in your pc... then go to the manufactuers website .... there you should find a downloads area which you can then locate your particular motherboard then download the drivers marked "LAN" ... or local area network...... they dont call them ethernet drivers since the ethernet is actually the cable... or ethernet cable..( also known as rj-45 ) ..... however the actual port is a lan port..... that said there are other ways around this especially when you have been using windows ( like myself ) since windows 2.1 (1996 ) ..... and you have a pretty good knowledge of how windows works.... for example many drivers can be used for other devices.. for example theres a common driver on windows xp that allways causes problems....modem driver on high definition audio bus seems to stump many xp end users... and on most manufacters websites there are no drivers for this... however you can use a realtek HD audio driver and simply insert this into your optical drive.... then do a manual driver installation ( find the driver yourself ) and when prompted browse and direct the wizard to the optical drive and press yes.. then windows will simply scan the disk and retreive only the parts of the driver that it needs... and the driver will install without a problem...... however on ati southbridges you can do this with older ati display drivers...... windows vista and 7 on the other hand will install a default driver for your lan ( ethernet ) during windows installation and this will be enough in most cases to get you online.... and allthough windows xp has a similar feature to look for drivers online it does not work most of the time.... note :putting your windows disk back in didnt work because if there were drivers on the windows disk it would of installed during xp installation..... however as i mentioned xp does not install as many default drivers as windows vista and 7 ...... ( probally a good reason to upgrade to windows 7 ) if you let me know your pc make and model ( or your motherboard make and model ) i would be happy to locate and forward you the lan(ethernet) drivers.... i hope this helps.. any questions let me know good luck mate !

Use another computer to download the driver, if you don't know the brand and model of your LAN, download Lavalys Everest, it will help you determine the exact brand model on the windows device of the said software.

You download it and copy it to a pendrive, then install on your computer.
