Digital camera and external mic?

I have a digital hd camera that does not have an external mic port, is it possible that i can attach a microphone to it through the pc usb port? If yes, will it work or does the camera have to support it ?

Answer:
The pc usb port is for output. It will never work. you can use a separate sound recording device and then combine the 2 video and audio tracks in a video editor software. Best of Luck!!
