Please help ? Having a problem with my monitor or my video card ?
-
Now, I'm having trouble.. I dunno if it's a problem with my video card, my HDMI cable, or my monitor. The monitor is on, yet I have no picture. The screen is just black, the monitor isn't on idle, as it shows it its being used, yet the scren goes black. It will have picture for roughly 3-4 seconds, then it will go out. And it just sits like that, black screen, while the computer itself is on. Could this be a problem with my video card, my HDMI cable, or the monitor itself ? I actually had my computer off as well as my monitor for around 3-4 days, everything was fine until a day ago. After leaving it off all day, I turned it on an hour ago, it kept the picture for roughly 20 minutes. One thing else I notice as of now, and from the time I turned it on, the picture seems somewhat darker.. Does anything know the problem ? Could it be a virus ? Could my video card be dying ?? I'd really appreciate help, I'm using the monitor as of now. I even had to type up this question with it, so it's not exactly easy right now. I'd rather not read up and see if I typed this already, but like I may have said, I have to turn the monitor off and turn it back on just to get 5 seconds worth of picture, most of this I've typed wit the screen off. Some details, My monitor is a HannSpree HF257, 25 inch. My video card is a AMD/GIGABYTE HD 6950. I use an HDMI cable, I would try DVI but my monitor doesn't have a DVI port(yes I know, please do not make comments about it). So, I don't know, a virus, my cable, my video card or my monitor ? And if anyone's wondering, I've had the monitor for around 4 years, maybe 5, the computer I am using is new.

Answer:
Shut down the computer . Unplug the Cable from the Video card . Plug it into the same type plug on the computer it should be near the top on the back side . Then start up . If you see a picture . Your video card is toast . If not then you got other problems that needs a pro to look at . To replace a video card is about as hard as it is to replace a light bulb .

it probably means you have a loose connection in your hdmi port in your computer and you need to get a new one but they don't cost much
