How do i get my digital camera to work as a Webcam?

My webcam doesn't work, i get the error message, "webcam is either disabled or has failed..."how do i fix this?

i have a toshiba satellite l300-19Y with windows vista 32bit, it has an Integrated chicony usb webcam but it refuses to work. i had to reboot the entire computer a couple of months ago and re-install window vista etc. everything else is working fine but when i try to load up the camera assistant software i get the error message " webcam is either disabled or has failed. please check webcam settings" i have tried re-installing the driver software and the camera assistant software. have tried uninstalling the driver and restarting the computer to have it auo matically install the driver, but it says it cannot be installed as the INF is missing. its really annoying me and would be very grateful if someone can help me and tell me how to fix this problem

device manager > imaging devices > right click > update > tick the top one search everywhere
