Can I watch direct tv on my computer?

What is a TV tuner? and which one can I get for my computer so I can use with my cable box to watch TV.?

  • I recently decided to get a tv tuner for my computer but I am not so sure what it exactly does. I want a good one that I can connect my cable box to and watch the channels on my cable box. Is this even Possible? Also if its not what can I do to watch my cable tv on the computer. Please help me on some suggestions. I saw this tv tuner for your computer (internal) on tigerdirect.com for $20 n am thinking about getting it but idunno yet i need some HELP PLEASE!!. Does it matter what type of tv tuner u got? My computer is fast enough to do alot of things with 2gb DDR2 ram , Also if i get a 19inch widescreen monitor or ne monitor can I watch the tv with it or do i need to get a specific monitor for it. Please respond ASAP~!! THANKS!!

    With the proper software and driver for that tuner you can just plug in your cable to your pc.Although I have a all in wonder 9800 pro,the quality is not so great.It cost me alot more then 20 bucks.

simply a TV tuner is a device that lets you watch TV on you computer. I have one. My cable is connected and works fine. I've seen several USB TV Tuner cards, but i don't know how well they work. My tuner is build in to my video card (ATI All-In-Wonder) works excellent, even comes with a AVI Jacks, so i can plug in DVD player,Console Systems,Cam Corders, etc. Also comes with PVR Software!!!!! Also i have a 19" LCD wide screen monitor, the picture looks fine, a VERY SLIGHT bit of stretching, but hardly noticeable I'd probably go with a ATI PCI tuner, about $40ish

Tv tuner is a internal device for cpu to watch ur tv cable on ur system,and tv box is a external device which directely connects to ur monitor.(CPU is not involve to use monitor as a tv bu using tv box).then ur monitor behave like a tv.
