How do I programmatically change the label of a mapped drive?

Trying to change the icon for my USB Drive?

• I open the USB and it of course has nothing on it, I then create a new text document and name it autorun.inf once I do that I open it and it opens up notepad on the usb, I then type [autorun] label=My USB DRIVE ICON=linux.ico I do all of this and then I also save the linux.ico icon in the root a long with the autorun.inf but then once I safely remove hardware I remove the USB and the put it back it, it all works well and the icon is there but I cannot use it as a USB storage device it will only show the icon and the inf.file so how do I get the icon as well as the ability to use the USB??? thanks

  What exactly are you trying to do, your question is not clear. You ARE running Linux, right? If you insert a USB (thumbdrive I assume) most distros will auto mount it. Without knowing what distro your running and in what desktop enviroment, nobody can help you. PS: Autorun.inf files are for Windows not Linux. Need to know what OS your running, if Linux, what distro and DM, what USB thing your attempting to use and what you want the end result to be.
