Nero won't allow me to burn to DVD+R and asks for CD-R when my PC can obviously burn to DVD?
-
i have an Acer Aspire 5633. i have installed nero and i want to burn a movie to disk. the movie is in Divx format (so in avi). i want the movie to play on my dvd player. Nero encode the movie so it is dvd player playable. The movie is origanally 669MB and after encoding 1084mb. as far as i know CD disks can't hold that much and max out at 700Mb. DVDs however can take it and hold around 4.7GB. Nero asks for a CD-r disk to burn onto....when the disk can't hold that much!!! i know my Pc can burn DVDs and has a DVD+R logo on the drive. why can't nero burn onto DVD+R instead of CD-R when it doesn't have the right memory!!!

Answer:
You need to, Burn it into a DVD. Yup, there's a drop down menu like thing where, you can choose where to burn it. If your using Nero 8, theres a choice like what optical storing device are you going to burn it to. Like, Dual layer, One Layer, Cd-R. stuff like that. I think, it's on the lower right? I can't remember sorry. For, Lower version of Nero, there's an option also which, Optical Storing Device will you write on it. If your using Nero 7, there's also an option for, DVD. Just look it up. I don't know about Nero 6 and bellow version. Plus, you really can write a DVD video on a CD. But, you need to compressed a full movie to fit in it. The bad thing is, Low quality. Just look it up on the drop down list thing. Or, you can try the, auto start function of Windows XP. of Vista. The one with, burn DVD thing. Try for Nero 7 and 8. I think, its more user friendly compared to other version.

Hi avi files are simular to kvcd in the fact they do burn onto cd's. Beleave it or not there will be enough space for your film, on the disk. It's just more condensed then using dvd's. Give it a go with the cd, choose a slow burn rate (the slower, the better). With playing them on your dvd player, if it's anything like mine, they won't play on their own (it normally just looks like the loading screen), but you will notice numbers come up on the dvd player display, when you see these just press play. (some players play them straight off, PS3's normally wont) Hope this works for you.

You have to select to burn a dvd. Its a drop down menu...or just try putting in a dvd and see if that burns.
Jason .
how old is your copy of Nero? If its like version 1 or 2 then I'm not surprised its asking for a cd....as dvd writers weren't available then (at least not very popular).
