How can I get digital cable into my PC?

How do i get my videos over to my pc using my usb cable?

  • yes i have a kodak digital camera that also allows me to record videos and i have a usb cable that came w/ it. i have vista, and when i plug in my usb cable to my computer then i go in to windows photo gallery, i click on info then import from digital device. then i plug in my camera while it's on and the gallery box that is popped up recognizes the device/camera and starts importing even the video yet it puts the video in My Pictures instead of in the Gallery. So, I was wanting to know since i pulled up windows movie maker why in the heck it wouldn't let me copy/paste the video from my pics to the movie maker b/c i get some kind of codec error? and when i try to copy/paste tot he gallery it says it has to be an app like jpeg, etc, etc everything except for what it is the file name on the video. Can i use windows media player instead or what does someone out there suggest. this girl hada really good answer for a question i had asked something totally different than this and she told me to email her and she would give me good advice on what i needed to do as far along as what/where to go etc, how am i able to email her if all i can do when i click on her pic is add her to my contacts yet she isn't in my email contacts are those contacts located somewhere else. someone please help w/ the video thing i would greatly appreciate it. do u suggest i download something else for my pc? and what does codec mean and do i need to download some kind of codec etc to be able to get my video to work? thanks for any feed back or if someone can leave their contact info i don't know if that's allowed b/c i am kinda new to the questions and answers of this. thanks.

  • Answer:

CODEC is somehow a type of windows component that allows your media player to recognize different file types of media specially videos and music. the files from your camera has a format that is not being recognized by your media player, so what you need to do is download a codec pack for your media player or for your computer. I could suggest that you download a codec and then install it on your computer. After that restart your computer. And try playing again. try K-Lite codec. Its a freeware. hope this could help.
