How to allocate vector greater than 2Gb?

How do I allocate more dedicated memory to my video card?

  • My total graphics memory available is 2gb Dedicated video memory is 256mb System video memory: 0mb Shared system memory: 1663mb/1.5gb My graphics card is AMD 760g and I was wondering if someone could tell me how to put more memory into the dedicated video card space. I want to double it to 512mb so I can play games more smoothly.

Bryant, Unfortunately the dedicated memory is the memory that is built in to the physical card and cannot be upgraded. Respectfully, Al

hi mate in the old days some bios,s would allow you to increase or decrease the amount of memory allocated to the onboard graphics, however this isnt possible with the AMD 760g chipset and as the other answers stated the only surefire way to allocate more memory to your pc,c graphics is to buy a better dedicated graphics card and this wont cost the earth... for example the "Asus 1GB Radeon HD 6670 DDR3"( http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/52795/Asus-1GB-Radeon-HD-6670-DDR3-DIRT3?utm_source=brianthesnail ) is only £58 and comes with 1gb of gddr3 memory running at 1800mhz ddr effective ..... add in a 800mhz core clock and 480 shader processors and you can expect to run games at much higher frame rates and much smoother with no lag/stuttering however more memory on a graphics card isnt the only important factor.... you can have a 2gb card with poor core and memory clock speeds and it wont be a fast as a 512mb graphics card with superior core and memory clocks the HD6670 above has a good balance of dedicated memory and core/memory clocks and for just over £50 this represents excellent value . if you prefer a nvidia based card then consider the "Asus 1GB GeForce GT 440 GDDR5 "( http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/52345/Asus-1GB-GeForce-GT-440-GDDR5?utm_source=brianthesnail ) ... this is around the same in performance as the HD6670..... however nvidia cards have extra features such as "physx" and "cuda" which are becoming more popular in games ...... both these cards will work ok with a 400w or better power supply and both dont require any additional power connectors ( eg 6pin pci-express connector ) .... and both a pretty small and will fit in all midi form factor cases ..... so there you have it.... i hope this helps.. any questions let me know good luck mate !
