The name of this feature in Vista is ReadyBoost. It normally allows a user to let the system use flash memory (USB thumb drive or possibly a memory stick). I suppose that you could use a memory stick but there read/write speed minimum qualifications. Check out the links below for some good info:

I assume you're running Vista as this is only OS that does this (owing to it needing SO MUCH ram to sit doing nothing) I'd suggest you RTFM, the HELP option on the menus . . . search there . . .

Anyway to quick start readyboost: (In order to return to this dialog box, open the Computer window, right-click the drive (F: in this case) and select Properties. From there, click the Memory tab (as shown in the previous screen capture and adjust the settings as needed). Taken from his blog.

That is just marketing lingo, your pc will not run any faster really. You won't be able to see the speed increase, cause it's minor.

im not too sure if u can do that......if it was that way then ppl would buy 1 gb memory sticks and just keep adding to their pc.

Assuming you are talking about a USB Jump Drive style device and you're running Vista, your computer uses the flash memory of the USB Drive as part of your swap file. This process essentially uses spare space in the drive to use similar to RAM in that it stores files that are being used or will be soon used on the drive so that it can be quickly accessed, as opposed to searching through the hard drive for it. This will only speed up your computer if you have heavy swap file usage or you do not have a lot of ram on your computer.
