Would a SATA II HDD work with a SATA III Cable/port?

As the person above me said Yes. Sata is compatible with Sata, it just will not run at Sata 3 speeds, but it will run just fine in that port.

Yes all SATA hard disks are compatible with all versions of SATA ports. However your SATA 2 drive only supports speeds up to 3GBps so it won't be able to work at the full SATA 3 speeds [6GBps]
