What is the best laptop to DJ with?

What device do you recommend for recording a live DJ set on my laptop?

• I getting a regular laptop 2gb RAM n the usual stuff. The main reason I want to go portable is to record some sets that I play in a local club. I was thinkin of a USB external sound card. If thats a good idea please recommend one..also what is the meaning of 2496 or 24192 or 1648 bitrate. Im a DJ n I will be hooking up the laptop to a DJ mixer to record. I just want the recorded set to sound as good as it is when played, with noise reduction (192 kbps when burnt on a CD) Please explain n recommend a good external USB sound card.

  Ah...... hold on a sec.. you want to record music from a mixer onto your laptop rite. I dont think you need an external sound card. From the electronics point of view i think a sound card only improves the output quality of the music but nothing with recording. If your tapping your recording from the mixer then i dont feel the need to get anything extra.. all you need is an awesome sound recording software... first tings first... bitrate.... its the rate at which your music is played, your music on your comp will have a fixed bitrate on it and the music software sets to tat bitrate and pays it at tat bitrare.. there are some DJing softwares tat help you adjust your bitrate. In DJ terms the explanation of bitrate is like this.... when the song is recorded, its sent to a particular bitrate. Usually higher the bitrate higher means higher quality of sound. So at the set bitrate as the song is specified if its been played by a music software image it just rotating the turntable at the normal speed... and if you play it at a higher bitrate than specified its similar to rotating the turntable faster and you get a diff squeeky sound.... If you lower the bitrate its similar to rotating the turntable at a lower speed.I hope you get it.. hehe..... Ok now to record!! Get any high end recording software like sound forge or acid or dam i dont know the list is big but sound forge is quite good.. if you are not able to find any then take a Nero CD writing software CD and in the additional programs there's a program called wave editor on it.. install tat 1.. its quite good too...... simple and good. Link up your laptop to your mixer (Hope you know how to get tat pin) You just need to connect it to the mic in slot.... if you dont have it then go get yourself a USB music line in slot if its avaliable. i aint too sure. but usually all laptops have a mic in. Use it. And on your recording, it'll ask for quality, select CD level. tats quite good enough (its where the bit rate is set) now just record...... IF there's a hizzing noise check out the tools on the software most of em have a noise reduction option. ( A good software ) tats about it i guess..... its quite good enough..
