How can I get the microphone on my headphones work? I am using WInXP and a Sound Blaster Live! sound card.?

  • Answer:

In CONTROL PANEL > SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES > DEVICE VOLUME > click ADVANCED... 'wav' level will control your mic volume level, 'Master 'controls your speaker/headphone level. (All should be unchecked, except POSSIBLY 'microphone' )

double clik your speaker icon in the desktop right bottom, dont let the mic "muted", then click in the left, properties, choose recording and select mic, you can use windows sound recorder in accesories, while push the record button, you talk to the mic, if everything ok you will see the bar moving

I use Live 5.1 as well. Ok If you have the surround mixer installed. the open it (you can also run >surmix2.exe)Set the REC as MICROPHONE. If you don't have mixer installed , then open the volume control. Options > advanced controls. something new under Mic should appear named"Advanced". click it and checkmark the +20 db. If MIC is not displaying then options>properties>put a check mark on Microphone.also unmute it if its muted.
