Mother board help?

hi, im a novice when it comes to computers, but anyway, i have a MSI AMETHYST-M 1.0 motherboard with ATI X200(RS480) chipset. My processor is an AMD sempron socket 939. I am thinking of changing my Processor for something higher but i am confused. There are 2 models of this mother board, the RS480M and the RS480M2 http://www.msicomputer.co.uk/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=204&maincat_no=1 http://www.msicomputer.co.uk/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=167&maincat_no=1 the one i have is the RS480M (i think) but my package is a socket 939 which takes AMD Athlon 64 X2 chips http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_939 would the AMD Athlon 64 X2 work on my mother board???

Socket 939s will work on that mobo, but a AM2 version won't, as it has one more pin! Lol. You'll need to go on eBay to find one, though, because the socket 939s aren't made anymore.

As long as the processor is a Socket 939 processor then the board should be able to use it.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Socket 939 version would work, the AM2 version wont. (Socket 940 pins) hehe 1 more pin! The ones on the Toledo core http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athlon_64_X2#Toledo_.2890_nm_SOI.29

both motherboards support that processor so either way you'll win and i would change the sempron processor to the athlon as the semprons are slow and cheap budget
