Why won't my speakers work?

Why wont my speakers work with my new computer?

  • i got a HP Pavilion 524w Its And Old Computer But it works Great..But My Speakers Wont Work. No Matter What Speakers I Put In And When i Go To Open iTunes before it Opens it Says "iTunes Has Detected a Problem With Your Audio Configuration" How Do I Get The Speakers To Work? ive Already Tried Messing With The Settings For Audio And What Not.

  • Answer:

It's not your speakers...it's something with your audio card. Try reinstalling the drivers. iTunes nor your computer know if your speakers are plugged in or not. It is only concerned with getting the audio to the audio card and out the output. From there the speakers take over. Since you are getting an error popping up that means that the computer has detected an issue with your audio card (remember, the computer doesn't care about the speakers) so you need to be troubleshooting that.

They will not work because its not broke. Sometimes they dont work im using my new laptop and it sometimes has sound and sometimes not

As already mentioned there maybe a problem with the audio drivers. If so, you would have to uninstall them, reboot then reinstall them. The problem is that you will need to find those drivers. Visit HP, look up Pavilion 524w and see if there are audio drivers to download for your computer. If so, then download them to a location you can easily access (like your desktop). Uninstall the old ones from "Add or Remove Programs". Once completed reboot your PC then reinstall the drivers.

Go into your Device Manager, see if the drivers for you HP's audio hardware are there, it should be in the Control panel>admin tools>Computer management>Device manager>Sound, video, game controllers. see if any of the devices are disabled or throwing an error. If the computer is not seeing any audio hardware, you may need to send it to HP for repairs, if you have errors try downloading drivers from the manager and from HP's website.

try right clicking on "my computer", then clicking "manage", from there go to "services and applications", then go to "services", then find "windows audio" on the list, and click on it, if it is not started, that is your problem, start it.
