Can you use any web cam on a Mac computer?

  This "firewall port" you're talking about is not a physical port on your computer, USB is. If you have multiple computers and you are behind a router, you will need to log into the router and "forward" the TCP/IP port that your webcam application uses. This lets people connect to you on the other side, otherwise the firewall built into your router will block their requests. You should not have issues with most webcams. Surf the web and find a webcam you like then go on the manufacturers website to see if it says that it works with Mac OS X. Try Logitechs website first, they make good cameras. I have a antient one that works fine with my Mac.
