How to make GTA 4 run faster on my pc?

Will purchasing more RAM make my PC run faster?

  • I'm not that knowledgleble about PC's so I thought I'd ask for your knowledge. I bought a PC in January 2004 and the motherboard specification is, ASUS A7V8X-X Motherboard! If I buy some RAM (the most I can get is 3GB) will it make my PC run faster? Is 3GB going to make my PC run really quickly? In addition, will the PC memory increase when RAM is installed? & do you install the RAM with an instalation CD so it'll work ok?

  • Answer:

of course it will run really fast and will help u to play games really fast

Yes it will make your PC run faster / better. No, you dont need an installation CD - you just slot them in and thats it. ** edit ** its easy to install / remove - theres a little catch you press and then just pull it out and replace. Also, you should be able to get 3GB abit cheaper than that - You can get 1GB for as cheap as £15 - really depends how much your willing to spend.

When using an application that maxes out your current memory (which is quite often these days), your computer will switch to 'virtual memory'. Virtual memory basically simulates real physical memory by using your hard drive. However virtual memory speed is MUCH slower than physical memory and as a result, your computer will run particularly slow with your hard disk going into overdrive. Upgrading your RAM will decrease your computers reliance on virtual memory as it has more of the faster physical memory to fall back on; this will no doubt show a significant speed increase if you are currently experiencing quite a bit of slow down (especially on start up of windows and applications). Oh and all you have to do is fit it in the only hole it will slot into and your good to go, no messing around with installation!

Your PC will not run any faster, if you want it to run faster, then upgrade your CPU. However, increasing the RAM will make the applications open quicker. Also , the overall performance of your computer will be better.

more ram makes the programs you run much faster than less ram, and no you dont need a cd just shut the pc down....disconnect the power.....install the ram.....then boot the pc back up simple as that :)

Sweet motherboard. Hell yeah you do! It is what makes evvrything run fas, its the memory that is randomly used. to make it faster, get a big HARD DRIVE to give it space. Most of it depends on the PROCESSOR. i think thr ream isnt a CD. I think its a part(not too sure) -Good Luck-

In all honesty, I would (if your budget can stretch) replace the PC. A four year old model is considered quite old in an industry which continually changes and improves. If that's not an option then yes, the more memory you can fit in your computer, the better. Windows uses something called a paging file when it starts to run out of RAM - think of it as RAM on your hard disk - but this is slow, especially on a four year old PC as the disk IO will be considerably slower than more modern alternatives. What you need to ensure though, if adding more RAM, is that the modules you add are the same speed as the existing ones otherwise you'll start to notice all sorts of erroneous behaviour. If possible, don't add to what's there but replace it instead. Hope that's of some help
