What is the easiest way to make 350HP on 2007 Subaru WRX Impreza?

  • What is the easiest way to make 350HP on 2007 Subaru WRX Impreza? Ok here is my question I want to make 350 horse power on this car, it's the reqular not sti edition. I heard their stock engine can handle up to 450 horse power without modifications. But what is the easiest way to make this much power and the cheapest. I don't know alot about turboed cars or subarus only that they are great cars so any info will be appreaciated. I am trying to break in to 12 sec quarter mile times. Thanks.

  • Answer:

350 at the crank? So about 120 more than stock? Pretty easy. A full turbo back exhaust, intake and a tune will get you pretty close. Add a VF22 and a fuel pump and should get you there, probably more. If you are talking power to the wheels, you will need something closer to a 20G, higher flowing injectors and all the other supporting mods. I think since it's obvious you will have the work and tuning done, you should be talking to a tuner about how to reach your goals though. You will get much better answers. Aaron. What the hell is a G14 turbo and why would you install pinks when the 06 and up WRX injectors flow 560cc? And pinks are not enough fuel to make over 400hp so I guess I just called your BS. Go troll somewhere else.

Trade it in for an STi and slap a bigger turbo on that is probably "the easiest way" and actually the cheapest way too!

First of all, you don't need 350 HP to run a 12 second quarter. So if you're looking more for the 1/4 time, don't focus on HP. I have about 295 HP in my WRX and I've ran a 13.03 as my fastest time. That pissed me off, SO close to a 12 lol, but oh well. So basically I'm saying you don't need that much HP to be that fast. So focus on one or the other. A car can have a bunch of HP, but that doesn't necessarily mean its that fast, case in point the 2010 SS camaro, 426 horsepower, 1/4 mile time 13.0 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/112_0903_2010_chevrolet_camaro_ss_vs_2009_dodge_challenger_rt_vs_2010_ford_mustang_gt/specs_and_road_test_data.html the 2009 WRX, 265 horsepower, 13.5 1/4 mile time http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/hatchbacks/112_0810_2009_subaru_impreza_wrx_test/index.html the WRX posted a barely slower time with 161 less hp, However, it's not too difficult to get that much HP on a WRX. I'd say turbo back exhaust, catless down pipe, up pipe, mid pipe, Intake, new turbo, say a 20G, and a tune should do the trick. I've seen a guy run a 10 second with a WRX motor, however I don't know his HP numbers, so its possible to at least post that fast with the motor. But also remember suspension modifications. Subarus are at their best going around corners, not straight line racing. In my opinion, it doesn't matter how fast you are if you can only go straight. Good Luck

The stock fly wheel should be kept for drag racing, the lightened flywheel will increase your 60ft time since with less rotating mass the engine rpms will drop more which you will loose boost. For that type of power you would be looking at Turbo back exhaust, Turbo, Fuel injectors, bigger intercooler, Aftermarket programming, and soon after that probably Pistons and Transmission. You could probably forgo the intercooler by going with water injection from a company like snow performance.

removing 100lbs from the car will give you a tenth of a second in a quarter mile. lighten the rotational mass on the crank such as a aluminum flywheel and a pulley set. a down pipe with a cat back and a good ecu tune may break you into the 12"s

It depends what you mean by "easy". I'm thinking an STi swap with a Cobb stage 2 package but even that means a new ECU, exhaust, turbo, motor (of course) and the time + money.

No stock Subaru engine can handle 450HP without any damage to the engine withing a short period of time. You can get away with at most 300HP simply due to the material the critical engine components are made out of. Now lets get to your initial question, fastest and cheapest is using a turbo, for around 5,000 you can buy one have it installed and tuned. Though you might find many people use DIY kits they don't tell you about the time they spend tuning the vehicle. Since putting the turbo only takes abut at most four hours is the tuning that will take you weeks, unless someone has already done the work before. If you want to brake into 12sec now simply start by reducing the weight in you vehicle, things that you don't need should be taken out such as your passenger and rear seats. You will be surprise how much you gain by simply reducing the weight by 40 to 100 pounds (20 to 50 Kg) might not even need the turbo. GOOD LUCK....

i have an 07 wrx and I'm getting around 420. i ran a invidia n1 cat back and bell mouth down pipe, i also but pink sti injectors in it along with a g14 turbo, cold air intake and a good tune. it is very important that you get bigger injectors if you want more power and you will need to get a stage 2 or 3 clutch if your going to run over 280hp. i'm running about 11.8 on the 1/4....good luck, hope this helps

racing stripes and a really big rear spoiler. both add 175 hp each. guaranteed 10 second quarter mile.
