What is a good cheap camcorder?

Can anyone tell me what would be a good cheap camcorder to buy?

  • I want to buy a good quality camcorder that is preferably less than $500. I want one that is DVD format or MiniDV that will transfer video straight to my pc. I just don' t know about any of the name brands either. Is Sony good? What about Hitachi? I want to use the camcorder to shot short films. Help me find a camcorder! Thanks

    trust me on this one. get a canon. i got a canon when i was 13, im 17 now and the thing works great. i use it to make home video and it is good enough quality to get me into the sundance film festival with a movie i made when i was 16. if you want a new one it'll be around $300 dollars. but if you want to spend less, get the canon ZR-85, thats the one i got. you could get it quite cheap from ebay. or maybe even a pawn shop.
