How do you upload videos from a HDD camcorder?

Want to upload videos from my camcorder. but how?

i have a camcorder. not a digital camera. and it runs off tapes not the new dvd camcorders. its not old its just the lower grade new cameras. i can watch the videos from my computer while its being played on my camcorder. but there is no button to upload or save as. i cant even double click the video to make the screen bigger. all i can do it exit out the window. is there a program that i need to upload my videos onto my computer? PLEASE HELP! if there isnt just plainly tell me i cant upload videos with my camera. PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

First is the camcorder a miniDV, small tapes?If you have a MAC connect the cable from the camera to the firewire port , it will open the program iMovie and begin transferring the video when you click import. If it is a windows computer good luck. You probably have to buy a program
