I HAVE A CANON CAMCORDER ES50 PROBLEM.

What camcorder is right for me canon hf200 hf s100 xl1?

  • So I am looking at buying a new/used camcorder. I have narrowed the search down to these three camcorders: Canon HF 200 (new) Canon HF S100 (new) Canon XL1 (used) I will be using the camcorder for many things (short film, school, events, and travel) and would like to have a great product to use. Storage of data is not an issue because I have 4TB worth of data storage and the format type is also not a problem. I just want other opinions other then my own. I was also considering waiting for a price drop in December (not sure if they will have a drop in price). Any help would be great on the subject matter!

  • Answer:

It depends on what you are looking for in a camera, if you want quality, and fantastic performance I would go for the XL1 Still have one, cant remember how old it is now, but it still takes great video, its been underwater (housing) on top of mountains, in forests, and deserts. apart from new heads and servicing its all original. OH and its been dropped loads of times. for you first 3 uses its would be great, but the traveling is a problem as its quite large. as it records to tape, its easy to bang another one in if you need more video, and if you do run out on holiday then they are easyt o get hold of. and cheap, I archive my videos to mini-dv they are safe there. I do not like using highly compressed video formats, even if you have the equipment to edit the footage I am never that pleased with the results. Good luck RR
