Can a Non-HD Camcorder playback HD recorded video?
-
I tried to play a HD recorded tape on a standard 3chip Camcorder and I didn't see a time code on the tape. Does that mean I can't view it on my Non-HD Camcorder? Please help.

Answer:
No, an HD signal records at a different sampling rate than standard definition. Unfortunately, you will need the camera that was used to record the footage or a vtr to play your tape. In response to a prior answer to this question, it is not true that SD tapes will play in all HD machines. However, there are some cameras and vtr's that have the capability of recording both HD and SD that will play them both. Hope that helps.

HD information is coded differently then standard, so your player will not play the tapes. Sorry!

You can play SD in an HD camera, but not the other way around, sorry.
